By Abdullahi Muhammad Sheka

The President of the Center for Qur’anic Reciters, Nigeria, Gwani Aliyu Salihu Turaki, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decision to allocate 20% of palliatives, in the form of food intervention, to religious and traditional institutions.

Gwani Aliyu Turaki expressed his appreciation while acknowledging advice given by the Imam of Bayero University (BUK) to the President, highlighting the importance of including traditional and religious leaders in the ongoing distribution of palliatives.

The Center for Qur’anic Reciters, Nigeria, an apex organization boasting five million members skilled in the memorization of the Holy Qur’an, welcomes the President’s approval of routing 20% of palliatives through religious and traditional institutions.

Turaki emphasized the significance of targeting Tsangaya schools for such interventions, stating, “Tsangaya schools should be specially targeted for such intervention.”

He advised the office of the Honorable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, to collaborate with the Center for Qur’anic Reciters in implementing the intervention program, citing their ability to connect with original alarammas who are constantly with almajiris in their respective Tsangayas across the country.

Turaki stressed that involving organizations like the Center for Qur’anic Reciters in designing intervention modalities would ensure transparent disbursement.

Expressing gratitude, Turaki thanked President Tinubu for his gesture, stating, “Tinubu has done very well, and we will continue praying for him, hoping Almighty Allah will guide him on the right path.”
