Tinubu Appoints Ismaeel Ahmed as Executive Chairman of Presidential CNG Initiative

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), a key component of his administration’s economic palliative programme.

According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the appointment takes immediate effect.

Ahmed will be responsible for coordinating the operations of the PCNGi, which aims to cushion the impact of the fuel subsidy removal by providing Nigerians with cheaper, cleaner, and more sustainable energy alternatives.

The initiative forms part of the broader efforts by the Tinubu administration to mitigate economic hardship and transition the country towards cleaner energy.

Aged 45, Barr. Ahmed is a graduate of the University of Abuja where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2005 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006. He later earned a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri, in 2008.

He previously served as Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Programme from 2018 to 2022.
