Tinubu condemns assassination attempt on Trump

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the assassination attempt on former United States President Donald Trump.

This was contained in a statement personally signed on Sunday.

According to the statement, Tinubu described the attack on Trump as distasteful and beyond the acceptable bounds of democratic norms.

He emphasized that violence has no place in democracy and wished the former US President a swift recovery.

“I extend my sympathies to the former President and wish him relief. I also condole with the family of the deceased and those wounded and wish them a quick recovery,” Tinubu added.

He added, “Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States of America at this time.”

Recall that the attempt occurred at a political rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Trump narrowly escaped harm, reporting that he was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed that 20-year-old Thomas Crooks fired multiple gunshots, resulting in one fatality and injuring two others.

According to the Secret Service, the shooter carried out the attack from “an elevated position outside the rally” before being “neutralised” by agents.
