Tinubu Nominates New CEO, Commissioners for NERC
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Engr. Ramat, aged 39, is a seasoned electrical engineer and administrator with a PhD in Strategic Management, among other qualifications.
In addition to Ramat, President Tinubu also nominated Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner of Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner of Finance and Management Services.
All three nominations are subject to confirmation by the Senate. However, to ensure continuity and avoid a leadership vacuum in the commission, the President has directed Engr. Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity, pending Senate approval, in line with legal provisions.
The President called on the nominees to apply their expertise and experience in implementing the administration’s vision for the power sector.
The nominations were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
