Tinubu’s leadership paving way for stronger West Africa – Barau

The First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his exemplary leadership in fostering regional stability, economic integration, and democratic governance in West Africa.

This was contained in a statement signed by Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity on Monday.

According to the statement, Barau revealed this while speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2025 First Extraordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament in Lagos on Monday.

Senator Barau described President Tinubu, who also serves as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, as a pillar of progress and cooperation.

“His leadership has paved the way for a more prosperous and resilient West Africa,” Barau stated.

“The ECOWAS Parliament remains deeply grateful for his continued support and guidance.”

The Deputy Senate President, in a statement issued by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, emphasized the importance of collaboration among ECOWAS member states to achieve regional unity and development.

“Through our collaborative efforts and decision-making, we can strengthen our region, working together towards shared goals that advance prosperity and progress,” he said.

“Let us remain steadfast in our commitment to general unity, cooperation, and progress.”

Senator Barau also expressed appreciation to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for hosting the ECOWAS Parliament’s session, which he described as an essential platform for advancing regional interests.

He reaffirmed the Parliament’s dedication to fostering integration and cooperation among West African nations, stressing that President Tinubu’s leadership continues to inspire confidence in the region’s collective aspirations.
