Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have arrested two notorious kidnappers and raided several criminal hideouts in Kaduna and Plateau states.
The media information officer Major Samson Zhakom, said the operation, conducted under Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, is part of ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity in the region.
He explained that on March 16th 2025, troops raided a hideout in Ungwan Mallam village, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna state, recovering two fabricated AK-47 rifles, 2 Dane guns, and Fourteen cartridges.
Zhakom said on March 15th 2025, troops arrested two notorious kidnappers, Bashir Mohammed and Ismail Mohammad, in Plateau State, recovering one AK- 47 rifle and 1 AK-47 magazine
It maintained that troops disrupted kidnapping operations in Katume high grounds, Bassa LGA, Plateau State, where kidnappers often hide their victims while negotiating for ransom.
The information officer said these operational successes demonstrate the commitment of Operation SAFE HAVEN to effectively tackle insecurity in its Area of Responsibility (AOR) and will continue to dominate the AOR, frustrating the activities of criminal elements and denying them freedom of action.
He however added that efforts are underway to arrest fleeing criminals and recover their weapons. The arrested kidnappers are currently in custody, making useful confessions that will aid follow-up operations.
