Today, we celebrate 56 years in the life of a man whose journey has been defined by service, resilience, and commitment to the people he represents. Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Turakin Rano, is not just a politician by title; he is a grassroots leader whose life reflects steady growth, sacrifice, and a deep connection to ordinary people.
His journey in public service began in 1997 as a councillor representing the Hausa community in Lagos State. Even far from home, Hon. Rurum displayed uncommon courage and leadership, standing firmly for his people.
His return to Kano State marked a more direct phase of service. Between 2000 and 2002, he served as Supervisory Councillor for Works in Rano Local Government, where he contributed meaningfully to grassroots development.
In 2011, he was elected to the Kano State House of Assembly to represent Rano Constituency. His leadership qualities quickly stood out, earning him the position of Majority Leader.
By 2015, the confidence reposed in him by his colleagues and constituents led to his emergence as Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly. He held the position with dignity, firmness, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Since 2019, Rt. Hon. Rurum has continued his service at the national level as the Member representing Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. In an environment where words often outweigh action, he has distinguished himself through practical, people-focused interventions.
His commitment to community development is evident in the empowerment programmes he has championed, especially those targeted at women. By supporting women economically, he has strengthened families, improved household incomes, and promoted self-reliance across the constituency.
This belief—that when women are empowered, communities thrive—remains central to his leadership philosophy.
Hon. Rurum also understands that development cannot thrive in darkness. The installation of solar-powered streetlights across wards in Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure has improved security, extended business hours, and enhanced social life.
These projects have brought modernity and renewed hope to communities that were once left behind.
Education remains another pillar of his interventions. Through his postgraduate scholarship scheme, many young people from the constituency have been supported to pursue advanced studies.
This is not just an investment in individuals, but in the future capacity of the entire constituency, reflecting his forward-thinking approach to leadership.
As a representative of largely agrarian communities, Hon. Rurum has consistently supported farmers through the distribution of fertiliser and other agricultural inputs. These interventions have boosted productivity, reduced hardship, and strengthened food security.
Beyond projects and programmes, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum is a man of dedication, courage, and loyalty—to Kano State, to Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Federal Constituency, and to his party, the APC.
He has remained dependable, consistent, and principled, earning the trust of his people and the respect of allies and opponents alike. His integrity and political strength continue to inspire confidence, unity, and progress.
At 56, his journey stands as a testament to resilience and purposeful governance. He is a leader whose voice has remained firm in speaking the truth, a pillar in times of challenge, and a source of inspiration to many youths and Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
Years of consistent service—spanning grassroots leadership and legislative experience at both state and national levels—have clearly prepared Rt. Hon. Rurum for greater responsibilities.
His political journey was not built overnight. It has been shaped by experience, tested by challenges, and strengthened by results. From council chambers to the Speaker’s seat, and from the Kano Assembly to the Green Chamber, he has gained the maturity and insight required for any political office entrusted to him.
With a strong understanding of Kano’s political landscape, its diverse communities, and its development needs, Turakin Rano stands today as a grounded and credible leader, ready to serve in any capacity the people of Kano State may call upon him.
His record shows that he does not pursue office for prestige, but accepts responsibility as a duty. Wherever he serves, his focus remains the same: people first, development without compromise, and leadership anchored on integrity, consultation, and results.
On this milestone, I join the people of Kano State and well-wishers across the nation in celebrating a life defined by service and commitment to progress.
May Almighty Allah (SWT) grant you continued wisdom, sound health, and the strength to keep serving humanity with passion and sincerity.
Today, we celebrate not just your age, but your impact.
Happy 56th Birthday, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum (Turakin Rano).
