UNICEF, CSACEFA Collaborate to Reintegrate 300 Pupils into Formal Education in Jigawa

From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

In a joint initiative, the United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) and the Jigawa State Ministry of Women Affairs, through the Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA), successfully reintegrated 300 girls, including less privileged girls, into formal education within the state.

The announcement was made by Comrade Mustapha Yakubu Madobi, the State Program Officer of CSACEFA, during the distribution of school materials to the 300 children at Fagoji Primary School in Dutse on Monday.

Madobi explained that this effort aligns with the Jigawa State Ministry of Women Affairs’ commitment to curbing underage girls’ hawking, child abuse through street begging, and ensuring inclusive education for all.

The beneficiaries, all under 14 years old, were carefully selected from Tsangaya schools for Almajiris and various communities across the state for girls.

CSACEFA also played a pivotal role by providing training to 150 girls in local business, aiming to alleviate hardship and support their educational pursuits.

The distributed school materials included uniforms, shoes, bags, books, pencils, and various other essential items. Comrade Madobi expressed gratitude to UNICEF and the state Ministry of Women Affairs for their support, urging parents and guardians to collaborate for the better future of their children.

Speaking on behalf of Tsangayas and parents, Alaramma Idris Sulaiman appreciated the efforts, pledging their full support and cooperation for the success of the program.

Malam Nasidi Abubakar Garba, the representative of the benefited communities, also commended UNICEF and the state Ministry of Women Affairs, assuring their commitment to monitor the beneficiaries and ensure the program’s goals are achieved.
