From Auwal Salim, Yobe
The Nguru Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) recently held a meeting at the premises of Mai Dunoma Mega Primary School in Nguru to mark the end of the third term.
The meeting was organized to review all the successes achieved in the first, second, and third terms, and to rub minds on how to accommodate new sets of pupils into public schools in the next academic session.
In his welcome address, Mallam Hamisu Ado, the Education Secretary of Nguru LGEA, informed the attendees that the meeting was organized to bring together school managers and teachers to discuss ways to accommodate new students in the upcoming academic session.

He added that the meeting was also intended to pave the way for a smooth transition of pupils from primary to junior secondary level.
Mallam Hamisu Ado further announced that, in an effort to provide effective service delivery at the basic level in Yobe State, the United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) has supported six Local Government Education Authorities, namely Bade, Damaturu, Gujba, Fika, Potiskum, and Nguru, to develop their operational plans.
In his remarks, Mallam Garba Mohammed Umar urged head teachers to redouble their energy for improved service delivery.
He noted that, as a result of the sustained efforts by UNICEF, the Yobe State Government, and the Local Education Authority, parents and guardians are now moving their wards from private to public schools in Nguru Local Government Area.
The meeting also saw the inauguration of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, chaired by Mallam Waziri Abba and comprising twelve members. The committee was assigned six terms of reference to guide their operations.
Overall, the meeting was a success, and the participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to improving education in Yobe State.
