Uromi 16: Gov Yusuf Lauds Tinubu, Okpehbolo’s Prompt Response

Governor Yusuf of Kano State has commended President Bola Tinubu for his prompt response to the recent killing of 16 hunters in Uromi, Edo State.
Yusuf made the commendation when Governor Monday Okpehbolo of Edo State paid a condolence visit to the Government and people of the state over the killing, at the Government House, Kano, on Monday.
He said he was impressed by the proactive response of the president to the incident including arresting many of the suspected perpetrators.
He also lauded Okpehbolo for his swift response to the killings which included his immediate rush to the scene as well as engaging with the Hausa community in Uromi over the matter.
The governor also lauded him for the condolence visit to the state over the incident and urged him to make good his promise of compensating the families of victims of the killings.
Yusuf described the incident as unfortunate, saying that Nigeria is a country of diverse ethnic groups who should be able to tolerate one another.
“We ar e a country of people of diverse backgrounds.We should be able to tolerate one another,live peacefully and be our brothers’ keeper,” he said.
He appealed to the people of the state to exercise patience over the matter,as the state government in conjunction with the Federal Government and the Edo State Government are working hard to ensure that justice is done.
Earlier, Okpehbolo said he was in Kano to condole with the government and people of Kano State over the unfortunate incident.
He said he had already taken steps including the arrest of 14 suspects and his engagement with members’ of the Hausa community in Uromi, sympathizing with them and assuring them that justice would be done on the matter.
Members of the governor’s entourage included leaders of the Hausa and Arewa communities resident in Edo State.
