Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to lead Nigeria’s delegation at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled to hold from January 19 to 23, 2026.
The Vice President, who earlier represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya in Conakry, Guinea, departed for Switzerland on Sunday. He was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yussuf Tuggar; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and officials of the Nigerian Mission in Switzerland.
This year’s forum marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s global diplomacy with the official unveiling of Nigeria House Davos—a sovereign pavilion established through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The facility, located on the Davos Promenade, will serve as a permanent hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum.
Vice President Shettima is expected to present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to world leaders and global investors, while participating in key plenary sessions centered on the responsible deployment of Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.
Speaking to journalists after the Vice President’s arrival, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, said Nigeria would make a “robust presentation of investment opportunities” at the launch of the Nigeria House in Davos, emphasizing President Tinubu’s commitment to revitalizing the nation’s economy.
