VP Shettima, other dignitaries storm Kano for Deputy Senate President son’s wedding

Amidst an air of excitement, the city of Kano played host to a grand wedding celebration as Abdullahi, the son of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Bilkisu, daughter of Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aliyu Sani Madaki, exchanged vows in a union that united political and societal figures.

Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, alongside a delegation of esteemed guests, graced the event on Friday, as Kano state governor Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf warmly welcomed them.

The delegation was received by Kano state Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam on behalf of the Governor at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport before making their way to the illustrious occasion.

The highly anticipated wedding took place at the Sheikh Isyaka Rabiu Mosque in Goron Dutse, right after the Jumu’ah Prayer at around 2:30 pm. The revered Sheikh Abdullahi Mahmud Sarda officiated the ceremony, witnessed by a diverse congregation of well-wishers.

In accordance with Islamic customs, a dowry of N500,000 was presented as bride price, symbolizing the sealing of the marital union. The payment was made to Tajudeen Aliyu Madaki, a representative of the bride’s family.

The wedding festivities attracted attendees from both local and international spheres, with prominent politicians, government officials, and business magnates gracing the event. Notable figures included President of the Senate Senator Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, and presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi.

The guest list further expanded to encompass several governors, such as Dikko Radda of Katsina State, Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, Umar Namadi Danmodi of Jigawa state among others.

Renowned business personalities Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Alhaji Aminu Dantata, along with members of the National Assembly, traditional leaders, and religious dignitaries, added their presence to the occasion.

To culminate the celebration, a reception was thoughtfully organized by the state government at the Kano state government house.

The wedding ceremony marked not only the union of two families but also an occasion where diverse voices from various walks of life converged in joyous celebration.
