Warawa LGA Chairman Vows to Rejig Local Government for Prosperity

By Mustapha Salisu

Hon. Lamido Sunusi, Chairman of the Interim Committee for Warawa LGA, Kano State, has reaffirmed his commitment to revitalizing the local government for the benefit of its residents.

During a meeting with journalists in his office, Chairman Lamido outlined his accomplishments in his first three months on the job. His top priority, he revealed, was to restore activity at the Local Government Secretariat by enforcing staff punctuality and combating absenteeism.

Lamido said he has taken a step to address water scarcity issue plaguing Warawa LGA by obtaining approval from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the construction and distribution of 47 boreholes across all wards.

“While our LGA struggles with revenue generation, we established a committee led by my Vice-Chairman to explore revenue streams. These funds were then used to fix broken boreholes in certain wards”  he added.

In the area of education, the Chairman mandated all councilors and other officials to conduct daily inspections of schools in their assigned areas before reporting to work. This initiative, according to him, aims to improve the quality of education in the LGA, and its success is evident in the now fully operational schools.

On security, Hon. Lamido commended the contributions of the local vigilante group to resident safety through joint operations with the police and other security agencies.

His administration, he said, has repaired police and vigilante vehicles and motorcycles for patrolling, and even procured a new motorcycle to support security efforts within the LGA.

Warawa LGA, the Chairman revealed, has partnered with the NDLEA to combat drug abuse and has even provided them with a facility within the LGA to facilitate their operations.

He reported that recent heavy downpours had toppled electricity poles, plunging some wards into darkness. However, his team was able to restore power to eight wards of the LGA.

Hon. Lamido attributed these accomplishments to the unwavering support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his Deputy, Comr. Abdussalam Gwarzo, who also serves as the State’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Expressing gratitude to the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf-led administration, Chairman Lamido assured Warawa LGA residents that this is just the beginning of their transformation journey. He promised to unveil more programs, bringing hope and renewed optimism to the community.
