The Yobe State Police Command, in line with the resolutions reached at the State Security Council meeting held on February 18, 2026, has implemented comprehensive security measures across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Ramadan fasting period.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim.
He stated that the measures include enhanced surveillance, intensified patrols, and the effective deployment of personnel across all Areas of Responsibility of the Area Commands, Divisional Police Headquarters, and Tactical Units. These steps aim to ensure prompt response to distress calls and the prevention of criminal activities throughout the fasting period.
The Command, in synergy with sister security agencies, is working collaboratively to secure all strategic locations, including prayer grounds and other public gathering places. It is also complementing the efforts of vigilante groups and neighbourhood watch associations.
While wishing the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and rewarding Ramadan, the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security formation for immediate response.
Muslim faithful are also advised to take personal security precautions at prayer grounds to prevent minor offences such as theft of shoes, bicycles, motorcycles, and other valuables.
Residents are further encouraged to properly secure their homes before leaving for prayers.
The Command reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state.
