By Abdullahi Yusuf
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State says his government will give maximum support and cooperation to the new APC Chairman in the state,Umar Haruna Doguwa, and all other executive members of the party.
Yusuf stated this at the 38th State Executive Council meeting when Umar Doguwa, who is the former commissioner for Water Resources, bade farewell to the council.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mustapha Muhammad, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor on Thursday.
The Govenor highlighted the former commissioner’s contributions to education, leading to the declaration of state of emergency in the sector.
He said Doguwa had contributed immensely to the development of the state, and that his exit from the Executive Council seemed emortional, though the position he now holds would take the state to greater heights.
Earlier, Doguwa said the APC under his watch is in safe hands, and called on the council members to continue to be loyal to the Governor and the party.
He described their recent defection to the APC as the best decision and that they would do everything possible to ensure the reelection of Govenor Yusuf, come 2027.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, the commissioner for education, Haruna Ali Makoda and commissioner for women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi, all praised the APC Chairman for his integrity and doggedness in politics.
