We Will Not Compromise Security in Yobe – Gov. Buni

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has assured that the government will not compromise on peace and security across the state.

In a statement signed and released by Mamman Mohammed, the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs for Governor Buni, it was noted that the governor responded to the recent planting of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at Buni Yadi market by confirming that security operatives are on high alert and managing the situation effectively.

According to reports, the only casualty was a young girl hawking water at the cattle market, who stepped on a concealed IED and sustained an injury to her leg. Governor Buni directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to evacuate her to the State University Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Governor Buni stated that security operatives are carefully examining the details, including identifying suspects and their entry routes. He emphasized that significant progress has been made in the ongoing investigation. “We will not relent; we will not allow anyone or any group to reverse the progress made in securing our state,” he said.

He also called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities. “Together, we will always win the battle of good over evil.”

Meanwhile, the army ordnance team successfully removed two other undetonated explosives planted in the market.

Despite the incident, business activities at the Buni Yadi weekly market resumed peacefully and successfully, demonstrating the resilience of the community.
