Stakeholders have advised the federal, state governments and large-scale farmers to invest heavily in the exploration of solid minerals endowed by their states.

The resolution was reached at the 2025 African Mineral Summit and exhibition in Yola, Adamawa state capital Tuesday where policymakers, farmers and experts brainstormed on the need for people to explore the God-given endorsements left untapped.

In his welcome address, Chairman of the Summit and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Modibbo Adama University Yola, Professor Bashir Aliyu said that the summit was strategic towards addressing the feeble economic status in Africa.

Professor Aliyu stated that revamping competitive engagement in agricultural and solid mineral value chains can bridge the macro- and microeconomic constraints such as poverty and unemployment.

He highlighted the need and importance of promoting sustainability of Agriculture and solid mineral research development appealing to experts to put more effort into exploring the potentials available for the benefit of the people and our societies.

Delivering his remarks the convener of the summit, Dr.John Yohannah Pakka said that the summit was aimed at bridging the Agriculture and solid mineral value chain development gap through grassroots productivity, financial inclusion model, investment sharing, Export trade inclusion and capacity building.

Dr.Pakka hammered on the urgent need for change in our farming methods where activities are done manually advocating for a switch over to modernized techniques of farming so that large output can be achieved by our majority of farmers.

Pakka explained that the developed countries are ahead of us in farming due to their advancement in mechanization and technology where high yield is recorded both in raining or dry season.

He suggested that our farmers can form cooperatives or clusters to purchase agricultural advanced machines for high-crop production.

Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Hon. John Ishaya Dabari said that the summit was timely bearing in mind the need to diversify from crude oil exploration which has caught the attention of everyone.

Hon Dabari added that the meeting in the northeast stands as a wake-up call to all and sundry urging for stoppage of illegal mining in the state and country at large.
