Wedding of Kwankwaso’s daughter: A realignment of political forces?

The frustration stemming from the perceived hopelessness of PBAT’s administration since its inception on May 29th, 2023, prompted a series of meetings aimed at devising a democratic method to oust the regime in 2027.

This government, elected under the banner of “Renewed Hope,” started off on an unstable and discouraging foundation. The removal of fuel subsidies, the decision to allow our currency to fluctuate, the appointment of inept and controversial individuals to lead ministries, departments, and agencies, mishandling the ECOWAS issue regarding Niger’s military coup, and persistent power outages due to system failures are just a few examples of the challenges faced.

These circumstances have led to unprecedented hardships and a significant loss of confidence in the government’s readiness, capability, or willingness to govern effectively. Nothing therefore seems to be working in Nigeria. Excruciating poverty, insecurity, incompetence is the order of the day leading to hopelessness of unimaginable proportion.

The occasion which took place at the Emir’s palace in Kano with the creme de la creme of the society is a clear and unmistakable statement the something is brewing.

Remember that the removal of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and the death of Emir Ado Bayero and the emergence of All Progressive Congress was what led to the emergence of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the emir of Kano and as part of the move to see the end of People’s Democratic Party rule in Nigeria. So here History is repeating itself.

As a result, numerous groups have emerged to help devise the best approach to resolving this crisis. In the North, for instance, the formation of the League of Northern Democrats (LND), ostensibly aimed at addressing the security, political, and economic challenges of the region, indicates a potential shift in direction for 2027.

The recent visits to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo by LND members and those who attended Kwankwaso’s daughter’s wedding seem to suggest a well-coordinated national movement from various angles on how to best address the current state of affairs.

The question arises: Could Kwankwaso’s daughter’s wedding ceremony signify more than just a celebration of love and unity? Speculation abounds that it might actually represent a strategic realignment of political forces within Nigeria.
