From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for impactful partnerships with development organizations, including the World Food Programme (WFP).
The assurance was given when WFP Director, Mr. David Stevenson, and Mastercard Foundation Director, Rosy Fynn, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Damaturu, according to a statement signed by Mamman Mohammad, DG Press and Media Affairs.
Governor Buni commended both organizations for their continued support toward the state’s recovery efforts and appealed for expanded partnerships to consolidate gains made in resettling Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Mr. Stevenson applauded the state’s successful transition from emergency humanitarian aid to durable solutions for displaced persons, particularly through youth and women engagement in agriculture.
“I appreciate your wisdom and progress in addressing displacement through sustainable livelihoods,” he stated, reaffirming WFP’s commitment to deepening agricultural collaboration with the state.
On her part, Rosy Fynn of the Mastercard Foundation pledged support for youth empowerment in Yobe, with a focus on women, under the Foundation’s broader initiative to create 30 million job opportunities across Nigeria.
