From Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna
Philanthropist Hajiya Halimat Tejuosho Adenike, through the QAT Foundation, has empowered 600 Nigerian youths across the six geopolitical zones of the country in Kaduna State. The initiative aimed to equip youths with 21st-century skills for self-reliance and livelihood support.
Beneficiaries, 100 from each zone, received items such as sewing machines, grinding engines, and hair dryers. The event, held on Monday in Kaduna, commemorated the 2024 World Humanitarian and International Youth Day under the theme “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.”
Hajiya Halimat, CEO of QAT Foundation, emphasized the importance of skills as valuable assets and urged Nigerians to contribute to national development. She also condemned recent nationwide protests, urging youths to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which she believes is committed to their future.
She highlighted several government initiatives, including the student loan scheme, N570 billion in livelihood support, and micro and small business loans, as evidence of the administration’s dedication to youth empowerment.
Dr. Mohammed Sule, Guest Speaker from the University of Jos, spoke on “Digital Skills for Green Entrepreneurship,” stressing the importance of risk-taking and the necessity of digital skills for success in today’s economy.
One beneficiary, Blessing Sunday, expressed her gratitude to the QAT Foundation, dismissing the idea of selling the sewing machine she received, instead planning to expand her business.
