World Literacy Day: PLANE Honours Best Primary School Pupils in Jigawa

A non-governmental Organization known as Partnership for Learning For All in Nigeria (PLANE) in Collaboration with the Jigawa state government honoured best primary schools pupils with impressive gifts in Jigawa state.

The gifts was given to the pupils on Thursday at Madobi town area of Dutse local government, to mark the global communities in celebrating the International literacy day.

Speaking during the occasion, The PLANE State Team Leader Mustapha B Ahmad said the celebration is aimed at highlighting the importance of education and promoting efforts to eradicate illiteracy worldwide.

He explained that, some of the activities rendered by PLANE include teacher training, literacy and numeracy programs, community engagement, school improvement, and monitoring and evaluation in education sector.

According to him, the efforts aim to address critical education challenges and ensure every child has access to quality learning and improve level of literacy in the communities.

“We are committed to supporting the Jigawa State Government’s education priorities as our programs are designed to be sustainable, community-driven, and focused on improving learning outcomes”, he said.

He maintained that, PLANE has trained teachers, established literacy clubs, engaged over 50 communities in education advocacy and supported school infrastructural development and resource mobilization.

While making his remarks, the Commissioner of Basic Education Dr. Yunusa Danzomo, who was represented by hi Permenent secretary Alhaji Sagir Muhammad Kila, commended PLANE for the effort and urged others partners to copy from them.

He then assured more government’s commitments in education and called for all other stakeholders particularly the parents, teachers, traditional and religious leaders to support the move for better literacy societies in the state.
