From Alhaji Yusuf, Damaturu
The Yobe State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday inaugurated transitional Local Government Area (LGA) Executive Committees across the state’s 17 LGAs in a strategic move to fortify its grassroots structure,
Simultaneously, the party launched its Membership Mobilization, Validation, and Registration (MMVR) Committees.
The state Chairman, Alhaji Umar Kalli, presiding over the ceremony in Damaturu, declared the event a pivotal step in the party’s expansion.
“This marks a fresh journey in our move to establish a solid presence at the grassroots level,” Kalli stated, asserting that the party is now “well-prepared to engage in any political contest.”
Addressing aspirants who were not selected for the interim committees, Kalli appealed for patience, assuring them that the party’s broad structure has room for everyone.
He urged the newly inaugurated officials to return to their respective LGAs and foster collaboration for the progress of the party and the community.
Adding to the chairman’s remarks, the Yobe ADC leader and former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, provided context to the exercise.
He explained that the inauguration for Zone A completed a state-wide process, following similar events for Zones B and C, covering the seven LGAs of the Yobe East Senatorial District.
Waziri also unveiled immediate next steps, announcing, “After the inauguration, we are going to commission our zonal office in Damaturu and campaign offices in Tarmuwa and Bursari Local Government Areas.”
In a bold declaration of the party’s rapid growth, Waziri claimed that the ADC has evolved into a major opposition force in Nigeria within just seven months.”Today, there is no bigger opposition party in the country than the ADC,” he said.
He concluded with a call for unity and preparedness ahead of an upcoming party registration exercise, stressing that every member has a vital role to play.
