Yobe Constructs N3.5bn Sesame Processing Factory

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

Yobe State Government has constructed a sesame processing factory in Machina town, valued at approximately N3.5 billion.

The factory has a capacity of six tonnes per hour and is one of the largest in the country, according to Commissioner for Commerce, Industries, and Tourism, Alhaji Kaigama Umar.

The Commissioner made this known while conducting journalists round the facility of the sesame factory in Machina, the headquarters of the area.

According to him, the Machina sesame factory is almost the largest in the nation, surpassing any other sesame factory in terms of facilities and other features.

Alhaji Kaigama Umar explained that the idea behind the establishment of sesame seed cleaning, processing, and packaging factories was conceived by Governor Mai Mala Buni shortly after assuming office in his first tenure.

“The aim is to accelerate industrialization, which will help farmers improve their revenue and enhance Internally Generated Revenue at large” Kaigama added.

The commissioner revealed that three other sesame cleaning, packaging, and processing factories are at various stages of completion in Potiskum, Damaturu, and Nguru, respectively.

“These factories will help boost the state’s economy and promote agriculture and industrial development in Yobe State” he noted.
