Yobe Governor Flags Off Distribution of N1bn Worth of Instructional Materials to 17 LGs

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has officially initiated the distribution of instructional materials valued at over N1 billion to primary and junior secondary schools across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
Represented by the Honourable Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss, Governor Buni highlighted that the procurement and distribution of these instructional materials aimed to boost the government’s commitment to revitalizing basic education. This initiative aims to provide a robust foundation for the development of education in Yobe state.
Dr. Idriss explained that the instructional materials were procured by the State Government through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in collaboration with development partners.
The Governor urged the 17 local government education authorities (LGEAs) to ensure the optimal utilization of the items to facilitate the delivery of quality learning outcomes in public basic education schools.
He issued a stern warning against any diversion of the materials, emphasizing that the state government would take punitive measures against those attempting to sabotage its commitment to promoting education.
Governor Buni called on development partners, community members, civil society organizations, NGOs, PTAs, school-based management committees, and other stakeholders to support the government in providing quality basic education.
He reassured the people of Yobe of his administration’s unwavering commitment to maintaining high-quality education at all levels.
The distributed items include 56,000 cartons of branded school bags (UNICEF), 5,600 cartons of pencil HB, 5,600 cartons of ballpoint pen, 5,600 cartons of exercise book A, 4,800 cartons of plastic ruler, 5,600 cartons of exercise books 2A & 2C, 5,000 dozens of exercise book 2C, 1,000 cartons of chalks of different colors, 8,000 pieces of whiteboard and 500 pieces of markers.
Others are 1,600 Pieces of White Board Cleaner, 500 Cartons of Black Board Duster, 1000 Pieces of Slate, 800 Dozens of Pencils, 1000 Pieces of Class Register, 73,000 Pieces of School Bag, 10,200 Mats, 1145 Tablets, 300 Cartons of Mukaranta (Textbooks), 200 Cartons of Lissafi (Textbooks), 2600 Attendance Register, 2600 Centre File, 2600 Visitors Book, 330,000 Certificates, 340,000 Suplementary Reading Books as well as 130,000 Enrolment Forms.
In his opening remarks, the Acting Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alh. Isa Shettima, emphasized that the distribution of materials was part of the state government’s efforts to promote the education sector.
He urged beneficiaries to ensure the judicious use of the items to enhance teaching and learning in public schools.
