Yobe Governor Honors Fallen Officer, Rewards Injured in Ambush

The Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni on Friday presented a house and cash support to security personnel injured in the November 18th ambush on the Maiduguri–Damaturu road.

Governor Buni who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, during the presentation commiserated with families of the victims and prayed for repose of an officer who lost his life during the ambush.

In a statement issued to newsmen by Press Secretary to the SSG, Shuaibu Abdullahi disclosed the Government and people of Yobe State will not cease to appreciate the gallant security personnels for their sacrifice for peace to reign in the state.

He urged them to continue the good work, while pledging support of the state Government in whatever way possible.

During the presentation, Mrs. Sadiya Mohammed Maina, wife of a deceased police corporal, received N2 million for starting a business and N1 million for her children’s school fees.

Additionally, they were given a house worth N7.5 million in Damaturu. Other injured security personnel received N1 million each during the presentation ceremony at the Secretary to the State Government’s office.

Other security personnels who sustained different degrees of injuries during the attack, were given N1 million each.

The presentation of the cheque, which took place at the office of the Secretary to the State Government had in attendance, Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam, Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Executive Governor of Yobe State; Alhaji Abdulkarim Mai Umar, Permanent Secretary, Administration in the office of the SSG;  Alhaji Baba Gaidam Kachalla, Permanent Secretary Political Affairs in the office of the SSG.

Others who attended include Alhaji Yakubu Musa Damagum, Director Security Services in the office of the SSG; Alhaji Suma’ila Mai Adamu, DG Bureau of Public Procurement; Chief Security officer, Government House and Commander Police Special Operation, Damaturu, and many other security personnel.

It would be recalled that on Saturday, November 18 2023, security personnel attached to Government House Damaturu, were injured in an ambush by suspected Boko Haram fighters along Damaturu-Maiduguri highway while returning to the state from Borno.
