Yobe Gov’t Includes 1,403 Vigilantes Into Healthcare Scheme

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

The Executive Secretary of Yobe State Contributory Health Care Management Agency, Dr Babagana Tijjani, announced the decision during a Thursday news conference in Damaturu, praising the initiative to bolster the effectiveness of vigilance groups.

He commended the gesture aimed at boosting the morale of vigilance groups to render effective service to the people.

“I’m pleased to announce with great admiration the commitment of the Yobe State Government under the able leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, who approved and paid for the enrolment of 1,403 vigilantes into the informal sector programme.

“Recognising the invaluable contributions of vigilantes to the security and well-being of our communities, this initiative aims to ensure their easy access to quality healthcare services without financial barriers.

“By extending healthcare coverage to vigilantes, the state government has demonstrated a sense of gratitude for their dedication and bravery in maintaining peace and security across the state,” Tijjani said.

The executive secretary called on the business community, non-governmental organisations and other groups to key into the scheme for its numerous benefits.

“We, therefore, invite business groups, NGOs, philanthropists and other stakeholders to participate in the contributory healthcare schemes, which will strengthen our collective efforts towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.

“Healthcare is a fundamental human right, and we must leave no one behind in our pursuit of accessible and affordable healthcare for all residents of the state.

“By this commitment, Yobe State Government has further reaffirmed its total commitment towards the realisation of Universal Health Coverage in the state,” he said.
