Yobe Govt Orders Temporary Closure of Three Weekly Markets Over Security Operations

The Yobe State Government has announced the temporary closure of Katarko, Kukareta, and Buni Yadi weekly markets due to ongoing security operations.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), the move is aimed at enabling proactive engagements and consolidating gains in the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts across the state.
He explained that while the decision may pose temporary challenges, it is necessary for achieving critical security objectives in the affected areas and the state at large.
“Efforts are underway to fast-track the operation and reduce the impact of the closures on citizens,” the statement added.
The government appealed for public understanding and cooperation, assuring that the markets will be reopened in the coming days, God willing.
