From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
The Chairman of the Yobe State Hajj Commission, Alhaji Mai Aliyu Usman Biriri, has confirmed that the commission has completed all arrangements for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Alhaji Mai Aliyu disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent, noting that the preparations were carried out in line with directives from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
He stated that the commission has successfully screened and registered 1,337 pilgrims who met all the required conditions. According to him, these pilgrims are expected, God willing, to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj, out of the 1,960 slots allocated to Yobe State.
The chairman further revealed that the commission will commence vaccination of the intending pilgrims next week, by the will of Almighty Allah.
He added that enlightenment programmes for the pilgrims are already ongoing, as is customary each year, to educate them on the proper conduct of Hajj rites—from departure in Nigeria to their stay in the Holy Land and eventual return.
Alhaji Mai Aliyu assured the pilgrims that the commission is fully prepared to manage all aspects of the exercise, as it has done in previous years.
He also noted that the Yobe State Government has pledged continued support to ensure the smooth and successful performance of the pilgrimage.
The chairman further assured that once NAHCON announces the official departure dates, the commission will promptly inform all registered pilgrims without delay.
