Yobe Ministry of Works Achieves Significant Milestones in 2024

The Commissioner for Works in Yobe State, Engr. Umar Wakil Duddaye, has highlighted the ministry’s significant achievements in 2024, emphasizing its pivotal role in advancing infrastructural development under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Speaking to journalists, the commissioner expressed pride in the ministry’s accomplishments, noting that Governor Buni’s administration has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the state’s growth, earning widespread acclaim from citizens.

According to Engr. Duddaye, the Ministry of Works successfully completed several critical projects, including:

  • The Jajimaji-Karasuwa Road, a vital connection between Jajimaji and Karasuwa, constructed at a cost of ₦2,025,349,864.95.
  • The Chumbusko-Tagali Road, a 10-kilometer stretch built for ₦3,372,110,570.75.
  • The Damagum Town Road and Drainage System in Fune LGA, completed at a cost of ₦530,362,211.96.
  • 2.6 kilometers of roads and drainage systems in Potiskum Town, constructed for ₦582,939,420.91.

In addition to these completed projects, the Ministry is currently overseeing several ongoing projects, such as:

  • The Geidam-Bukarti Road, under construction for ₦1,149,115,135.94.
  • The rehabilitation of Kanamma Junction in Yunusari LGA, at a cost of ₦2,635,696,348.32.
  • The construction of the Nguru-Balanguwa Road, costing ₦1,074,014,000.
  • The dual carriageway from Damaturu to Kalallawa, a 25-kilometer project valued at ₦1,519,787,270.

Engr. Duddaye commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his support, which has been instrumental in the ministry’s success throughout the year. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to completing ongoing projects and maintaining its focus on the state’s infrastructural development.
