Yobe Residents Urged to Check Expiry Dates Before Consuming Foods, Drugs

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

Residents of Yobe State have been advised to always check the expiry dates of foods and drugs before consumption.

Yobe State Focal Person on Drug Abuse, Hon. Sa’idu Hassan, gave the advice on Tuesday while addressing journalists in Damaturu, the state capital.

According to him, the call became necessary considering that all consumable products have a specific shelf life, and consuming them beyond that period can pose serious health risks.

He noted that several cases of illnesses have been linked to the consumption of expired food items and drugs, stressing the importance of vigilance to safeguard public health.

In a related development, the Yobe State Coordinator of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Alhaji Lawan Dadingel, reiterated the same message. He emphasized that the agency remains committed to ensuring that only safe and hygienic food and drug products are available for public consumption.

Alhaji Dadingel also cautioned food and drug vendors to strictly adhere to regulatory standards and ensure compliance with guidelines governing food production and distribution.
