Yobe State University (YSU) has matriculated 2,240 students during its 18th matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor, Mohammed Bashir Yahir, said the institution is strengthening entrepreneurship and practical training to equip graduates for self-employment, private sector opportunities, and government service.
He commended the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) for supporting students from low-income backgrounds and reiterated the university’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice and drug abuse.
The Registrar, Isa Audu Dallari, described the ceremony as the beginning of the students’ academic journey, while the Dean of Students Affairs, Sani Isah, urged the freshmen to balance their academic pursuits with co-curricular activities.
A breakdown of the matriculated students shows: College of Medical Sciences – 465; Agriculture – 53; Arts – 74; Education – 121; Law – 67; Sciences – 935; and Social and Management Sciences – 525.
