YOSPIS Celebrates Children’s Day with Kano’s Street-Connected Children

In a heartwarming display of compassion and commitment, the Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS) marked this year’s Children’s Day with a special celebration for street-connected children in Kano.

Speaking at the event, YOSPIS Executive Director, Fatima Zainab Nasir Ahmad emphasized the importance of recognizing and uplifting street-connected children, who are often overlooked in national celebrations.

“Children’s Day should be for all children, not just those in their homes or schools. These children deserve love, dignity, and opportunity. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to making sure no child is left behind,” she said.

the celebration aimed to create a sense of community and self-worth among the participants.

In collaboration with AMG Foundation, Global Peace Development and Mufarka Youth Development Initiative, YOSPIS engaged the children in many fun and games to celebrate the day.
The event is part of YOSPIS’ ongoing street-child intervention program, which offers psychosocial support, educational reintegration, and skills development for youth and children across Northern Nigeria.

YOSPIS called on government agencies, civil society organizations, and community leaders to invest more in policies and programs that ensure the protection, education, and empowerment of vulnerable children.

As the sun set on a day filled with smiles and laughter, the message from YOSPIS was clear: every child matters, every child deserves a future.
