YOSPIS Urges Kano Youths to Shun Violence During Eid al-Fitr Celebrations

The Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS) is calling on Kano youths to celebrate Eid al-Fitr peacefully and avoid any criminal activity.

This is contained in a statement on Wednesday Signed and issued to newsmen by Hannatu Suleiman Abba, YOSPIS Communication Officer.

According to the statement, YOSPIS acknowledges Kano State’s reputation as one of the safest states in Northern Nigeria, with fewer reported crimes. They attribute this achievement, in part, to a friendly football match held in August 2023 between YOSPIS, the police, and Kano’s reformed youth group, known as “Yan Daba.”

As a youth-led organization, YOSPIS prioritizes a peaceful and productive environment for Kano’s youth. They have consistently organized activities to foster a positive relationship between young people and security agencies.

Currently, YOSPIS is actively engaged in enlightening and mitigating topical youth challenges through the weekly radio program, “HASKEN MATASA,” reaching millions on radio and social media platforms.

Also, YOSPIS commends Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Husaini Gumel, for his swift action using a community policing approach to tackle thuggery in Dorayi Quarters and across the state.

Zainab Nasir Ahmad, YOSPIS Executive Director, seized the opportunity to urge Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, to fulfill his promises made to Kano’s repentant thugs. YOSPIS believes continued support for these individuals is crucial for lasting reform.

YOSPIS concludes their message by encouraging all Muslims to use Eid al-Fitr as an occasion for fervent prayers for peaceful coexistence and economic prosperity in Nigeria.
