YOSPIS Urges Peaceful, Responsible Eid al-Adha Celebrations Across Nigeria

As Muslims across Nigeria prepare to mark the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha, the Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS) has called for peaceful and responsible celebrations, particularly among young people.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Executive Director of YOSPIS, Zainab Nasir Ahmad, congratulated the Muslim community and urged Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, compassion, and unity that define the Eid season.

“This season is a time of reflection and togetherness. We encourage everyone, especially the youth, to uphold the spirit of peace, tolerance, and community service,” the statement read.

Amid ongoing security and social challenges in parts of the country, YOSPIS appealed to religious and political leaders, community influencers, and youth groups to promote messages of nonviolence and harmony during the festivities.

The organization also called on security agencies to adopt a proactive and community-friendly approach in ensuring safety across communities.

YOSPIS warned against drug abuse, reckless driving, and other actions that could jeopardize public safety. “Let this Eid be remembered not only for its joy but also for the peace it preserves,” the group emphasized.

Reaffirming its commitment to youth development and peaceful coexistence, YOSPIS urged all Nigerians to contribute to building a more secure and inclusive society.

Eid Mubarak!
