From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
The Yobe State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego, has pledged his full support to the newly appointed State Focal Person on Drug Abuse Control, Saidu Hassan.
Hassan paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner in his office in Damaturu on Thursday, where he presented his letter of appointment and expressed his intention to collaborate with the Ministry in driving a comprehensive awareness campaign against drug abuse across the state.
Describing Hon. Bego as a respected leader and mentor, the focal person said:
“This visit is not just for formalities. I came to inform you of my appointment, but more importantly, to seek your blessings and mentorship.
The fight against drug abuse is a huge task, and I believe your leadership will help shape the path ahead.”
In his response, Hon. Bego congratulated Hassan on his appointment and commended his passion and commitment to youth-focused advocacy. He assured him of the Ministry’s full backing in efforts aimed at raising awareness and educating the public on the dangers of drug abuse.
“You have my full support,” Bego said.
“This is a critical assignment. Drug abuse is one of the silent but dangerous challenges we face, and we must confront it through sustained awareness campaigns, media engagement, and community involvement.
Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration prioritizes youth empowerment, education, and health as essential pillars of sustainable development, and the fight against drug abuse aligns squarely with these priorities.”
