From Abubakar Rabilu, Gombe

In a landmark effort to promote environmental sustainability and food security, Youth O’Clock Gombe has forged a strategic partnership with the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin-Kowa.

The collaboration was sealed during a courtesy visit to the college, where both parties pledged to advance joint initiatives for a greener and more food-secure Gombe State.

Acting Provost of the College, Dr. Umar A. Umar represented by Deputy Provost Dr. Ibrahim Isiyaka expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to foster research collaboration, student exchange, and community outreach.

He commended Youth O’Clock Gombe for its sustained advocacy for peace, unity, and environmental preservation.

Dr. Umar emphasized the institution’s role in vocational and agricultural training and encouraged the group to enlighten young people on opportunities provided by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which supports students in higher education.

State Coordinator of Youth O’Clock Gombe, Comrade Abdulazeez Sani Labaran, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to supporting the College through student engagement and community-based initiatives.

The visit, he said, also aimed to congratulate the Acting Provost and explore avenues for collaboration under the College’s community service framework.

As part of its environmental drive, Youth O’Clock Gombe donated 100 economic tree seedlings to enhance the college’s landscape and promote eco-friendly practices.

The group also presented a congratulatory letter and a proposal detailing areas of cooperation.

The partnership marks a significant step in uniting educational institutions and youth organizations to advance sustainable development, environmental renewal, and food security across Gombe State.
