YUMSUK Transforming to a Citadel Of Learning – Prof Muktar Kurawa

The Vice Chancellor of Yusuf Maitama Sule University(YUMSUK), Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa has expressed that the university is transforming to a citadel of learning not in the northern Nigeria, but in the country as a whole.
Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa made this known in a media chat with journalists in his office showcasing tremendous achievements recorded in the infrastructure and academic excellence in the State Owned university.
He said that on his appointment as the Vice Chancellor in 2020, the university was offering 34 course, but as of today the number has jerked up to 50; and in 2021 established a post graduate school currently running 48 different courses.
The Vice Chancellor added that recently three new faculties has been established that included Computing, Law, and Medicine to expand the educational landscape of the fast growing university.
In the infrastructure development, Professor Kurawa added, ” Kano State government has built the faculties of Science and medicine with the needed lecture theatres, laboratories, and lecturers offices.
” While TETFUND is building faculty of communication; sponsoring lecturers post graduate studies and research and plan is on the way for the Agency to build a hostel at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital for the medical students.
” CBN also is building two hostels one each for female and male students at the main campus with road networks facilitated by former State Minister of Work, Alhaji Ibrahim El-Yakub and House of Representatives member representing Bichi constituency Alhaji Abubakar Kabir Abubakar.” explained the Vice Chancellor
He also enumerated the support of philanthropists in the state who have been assisting the university citing examples of Alhaji Aminu Dantata who built a common room for female students, and Alhaji Bebeji who constructed the university’s Jumuat mosque.
Alhaji Ali Bebeji also built another mosque in the academic area; provided library facilities and make a pledge to build a Staff School for the university community.
Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa further elucidated on effort of the university’s management in easing learning and teaching process as it with the support of TETFUND built and equip a printing press.
