Zamfara APC raises alarm over alleged illegal seizure of Party Chairman’s official vehicle by Police

From Ibrahim Kaulahi, Gusau

The Zamfara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has in strong terms condemned the action of seizing the state party Chairman’s official vehicle by the Police allegedly under the directive of the State Government even without warrant and the subsequent detention of the driver for hours at the Government House Gusau.

The allegations which were contained in a statement by the state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Malam Yusuf Idris and made available to newsmen in Gusau, further claimed that, the sad incident occurred in Gusau, the state capital where the Police who have been secretly trailing the driver descended on the vehicle with the intention of taking it away.

The APC driver has immediately raised alarm upon the incident to the APC headquarters as according to the statement, later, the Police were discovered to be the Policemen attached to the Government House.

“They explained that, they were asked by the Commissioner of Police in the state to recover the vehicle and take it to the Police Command Headquarters in Gusau only for them to divert the illegally arrested vehicle to the Government House by using force on the driver to change the route.

“The Police then detained the driver for hours at the Government House without any explanation as to why he was either arrested and detained up till when they released him.

“We at the APC, strongly believed that, this is another way of threat jointly orchestrated in collaboration by both the Police and the state government against our law abiding party and its members especially the Chairman who may have been the victim of the unfortunate act.

“We wish to stress in strong terms that this is completely unacceptable and we deserve an unreserved written apology from both the Police and the state government with the promise never to harass our members again.

“With this development we want to inform the security agencies that the Zamfara APC Chairman’s life is in danger since they are trailing his movements and that of his family, so should anything happen to him, we are going to hold the Policemen attached to the Government House and any other person or body that fits into our suspicions responsible”, the statement has warmly warned.
