Zamfara APC warns against planned nationwide protests

From Ibrahim Kaulahi, Gusau

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives APC has cautioned citizens in the state against participating in the planned nationwide protest as it is likely to be hijacked by hoodlums.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Zamfara State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau, saying the party Chairman, hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani, has warned over the planned protest which may turn to break of law and order as there may be other plans by hoodlums contrary to the main subjects.

According to it, hon. Danfulani opined that it is very imperative to lend his party’s voice to make the call due to the insecurity situation bedevilling Zamfara State and the need for Nigeria’s stability as one united nation.

It reads in part, “There is likelihood of criminals who have continued to make life highly unbearable to the people taking over the protest and making the security situation worse, so let’s think wisely to avoid wanton destruction of our country in the name of protest as it occurred in most of the countries that carried out such protests in the past and are now experiencing more difficulties than what caused the protest.

“Like in Sudan, the people protested for the hike of bread price but now are buying bread at five times the cost before the protest price and a lot of citizens’ properties, government infrastructures, businesses, health facilities were all destroyed with many people been rendered homeless and turned refugees within their country and its neighbours.

“The same thing in Libya, Syria, and most current one in Kenya, so let’s resolve our grievances through negotiations and dialogues because no country will progress through protest that will lead to anarchy if highjacked by hoodlums.

“Though, the protest is an expression of citizens’ constitutional rights, all channels of amicable resolution of the problem can not be said to have been exhausted.

“As Muslims, Islam abhors protests and for the fear that no one can tell the extent of damage such protests could cause, it is better to find other avenues of settlement.

“Our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a listening leader who is doing his best to make Nigeria a better place for all citizens.

“He is the only president that took the Nigerian governors to Supreme Court in order to ensure that government at the grassroots is fully functioning which I believe with local government areas having full autonomy, issues of unemployment, insecurity, hardship and other criminalities will become history in the country.

“So let’s support him in that direction through goodwill and prayers for the benefit of our future generations.

“We are civilised people. We should not be instigated by the enemies of our country who are abroad enjoying with their families and can not even come near the protest venues but can only watch and comment on social media.

“Life is beneficial to its owner, and health is precious to human beings. Living in peace is gold, so let’s unite for all”, Danfulani has further cautioned.
