The Zamfara State Government has commenced the implementation of a special allowance package for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state, with medical doctors set to receive one hundred and fifty thousand naira monthly, while other health professionals will be paid fifty thousand naira.
Governor Dauda Lawal disclosed this during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream One corps members deployed to Zamfara State, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp.
Declaring the orientation course open, the governor urged the corps members to serve with integrity, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose, stressing the importance of national service in nation-building.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi, Governor Lawal reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the welfare of corps members and the overall well-being of the people of Zamfara State.

According to the government, corps members posted to schools, ministries, departments, and agencies will also receive a monthly state allowance of twenty thousand naira.
The governor assured the corps members of a conducive working environment throughout their one-year service, noting that his administration has rehabilitated dilapidated schools, hospitals, ministries, departments, and other public institutions to meet acceptable standards. He added that these facilities have been adequately equipped to enhance effective service delivery to the people of the state.
He described the presence of the corps members in Zamfara as significant, stating that beyond fulfilling statutory national service, they represent hope, resilience, and the belief that Nigeria’s diversity remains its greatest strength.
Governor Lawal further highlighted the role of the NYSC scheme in promoting unity, mutual understanding, and a shared national purpose, particularly at a time when the country faces social, economic, and security challenges.

On security, he acknowledged that it remains a sensitive issue in parts of the state but said sustained engagement with security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and vigilante groups has led to measurable improvements in several areas.
He urged the corps members to remain law-abiding, security-conscious, and respectful of the cultures and traditions of their host communities, describing the people of Zamfara as hospitable, resilient, and deeply rooted in values of respect and communal living.
In his remarks, the State NYSC Coordinator, Malam Lawal Ahmad, commended the Zamfara State Government for its continuous support of the NYSC scheme.
He advised the corps members to strictly adhere to camp rules and regulations and to be punctual at all activities, especially the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which is designed to equip them with skills for self-reliance after the completion of their service year.
During the event, the Commissioner was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Nasiru Galadima Kaura and all the Directors of the ministry.
