Zamfara Govt, JIBWIS Lock Horns Over Brutal Killing of Cleric

The Zamfara State chapter of the Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’a Wa’ikamatus Sunna (JIBWIS) has called on the State Government to with immediate effect withdraw it’s statement which reluctantly exonerated members of the CPG for their alleged involvement in the gruesome murder of a prominent Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada.

The call was made in a statement by the Zamfara State Chairman of the JIBWIS, Alhaji Aliyu Na-Allah Zurmi, said eyewitnesses in Mada town identified some members of Community Protection Guards (CPG) as the culprits, contradicting the official statement from the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.

The leadership of the JIBWIS while condemning the statement urged the said Spokesperson to stop encroaching into other peoples duty and be wary of delicate issues especially intentionally involved brutal killing of it’s potential member who during his life had contributed immensely towards the development of peace in the state.

Eyewitnesses in Mada town identified some members of Zamfara State’s Community Protection Guards (CPG) as the culprits, contradicting the official statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris Bala.

“JIBWIS confirmed the statement earlier made by the CPG State Commander, Col Yandoto (rtd), acknowledging the involvement of his men in the tragic incident.

“We call on Sulaiman Idris Bala to withdraw his statement defending the culprits, and we caution against encroaching on the responsibilities of trained professionals. As an Islamic organization, we remind the Spokesperson to fear Allah and speak the truth, as he will be held accountable in the hereafter.

“JIBWIS emphasized its commitment to ensuring justice is served and therefore appeals to the public not to resort to vigilantism. We extend heartfelt condolences to the family of Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada, praying for his soul’s eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus”, the statement has stressed.

It would be recalled, the prominent Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada was gruesomely killed by the alleged State Government’s recruited members of CPG in Mada town, Gusau local government area on Tuesday, 5th March 2024, at around 4 pm.

The sect further urged it’s teeming members across the state and beyond to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing a commitment to legal actions aimed to expose and prosecute the assailants.
