Zamfara Gov’t Refutes Appointment of Bashir Hadejia as Adviser to Gov. Dauda
The Zamfara State Government has debunked a circulating document that falsely claims Bashir Hadejia was appointed as the ‘Technical Adviser on Mining’ to Governor Dauda Lawal.
Hadejia, a former special adviser under ex-Governor Bello Matawalle, was recently arrested on serious charges, including treason, gun-running, and transnational crimes. The government clarified that the document purportedly appointing him to a new position is a forgery.
In a statement issued by Suleman Ahmad Tudu, Senior Special Assistant (Media) in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the government emphasized, “Governor Dauda Lawal has not made any such appointment, and Bashir Hadejia has not been appointed to any position in the current administration.”
The forged letter, dated October 27, 2023, and purportedly signed by Mal Abubakar M. Nakwada, Secretary to the State Government, falsely claims that Governor Lawal approved Hadejia’s appointment.

The letter praises Hadejia’s “experience, competence, and dedication to duty” and states that his appointment would take effect immediately, offering him a salary in line with the terms of service.
However, the government dismissed the letter as the “handiwork of mischief makers” intent on misleading the public and tarnishing the image of Governor Lawal’s administration.
The government urged the public and media outlets to disregard the fake document, noting that it lacks the quality, arrangement, and seal consistent with official communications from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
