Zamfara: NSCDC Partners NESREA Against Environmental Degradation

Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has renewed commitment to partner with the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) in the war against environmental degradation and enforcement of standard best practices and regulations in environmental related matters.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Sani Mustapha stated this when he received the Pioneer of the Zamfara State Coordinator of NESREA during familiarization visit to the NSCDC state Command Tuesday.

The Commandant affirmed that, the Crises and Disaster Management Department of the Corps plays crucial roles in complimenting the duties of NESREA in environmental management and prevention of environmental related disasters.

In a statement by the NSCDC Command’s Spokesperson, CDPRO Ikor Oche, the Commandant assured the agency of an offer of unreserved support of the Corps in the state especially in the area of enforcement anytime the need arises.

Commandant Mustapha therefore enjoined the State Coordinator of NESREA to feel at home and relate with the Corps freely for their being there to constitutionally serve the targeted purpose.

Earlier, the pioneer State Coordinator of NESREA in Zamfara State, Mr. Nasiru Usman B. who led the visiting team, thanked the Management of the Corps for a warm reception accorded them.

He enumerated the functions of NESREA which cardinal on environmental protection and prevention of environmental related disasters in the society.

Mr. Nasiru Usman has however solicited for the support of the Corps, especially in the areas of enforcement of the regulations.
