Zamfara Senator distributes free farm inputs, seedlings to alleviate hardship

Zamfara State Senator representing Zamfara North Federal Constituency, Sahabi Ya’u Kaura has flagged off the distribution of four Trucks of fertilizer and other farm inputs which included the seedlings of rice and maize to the farmers of his constituency comprising Shinkafi, Birnin Magaji, Zurmi and Kaura Namoda local government councils.

Other farm inputs distributed included 400 cartons of liquid fertilizer, 1,500 bags of 10kg seeds of maize, 250 high breed rice and 250, spraying machines among others.

Speaking to newsmen after the flagging off ceremony in Kaura Namoda local government area, Senator Sahabi Kaura, said there has been no alternative than to come in to the yearning of the people of the constituency he represent.

He positioned that people of his constituency are predominantly farmers, they know nothing but farming as their business long ago.

“So whatever I supposed to have done to my people, I shall promote farming activities with a view to provide food security, that’s why I decided to start with the provision of farm inputs.

He stressed that the quantity of these farm inputs provided would go along way to improve production of farm produce despite the security challenges.

The Senator also pledged 50 million naira take off grant to some selected youths across the constituency to start business, and some would be given training on skill acquisition for self reliance.

He also promised to empower women with cash, sewing machines, knitting machines grinding machines among others.

On the planned protest, the lawmaker, said he will not advocate for protest but rather dialogue with the government.

He cautioned the organisers of the planned protest to re-think and embrace dialogue as according to him “You may start a protest, but could not predict how bad it would end.
