Zulum Approves Dauda Iliya as Spokesperson

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Dauda Iliya as the official spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media. This appointment comes following the passing of Mallam Isa Gusau, who served as the governor’s spokesperson until his death in February 2024.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Friday by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi.
Dauda Iliya, who hails from Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in the southern part of Borno State, is the current Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno State Chapter. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics and a master’s degree in Mass Communication, both from the University of Maiduguri. His career includes numerous professional courses and training, making him well-equipped for the role.
Iliya is a member of several professional organizations, including the NUJ and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters. Before his appointment, he worked as a reporter for the Federal Radio Corporation, covering Borno State.
Governor Zulum extended his congratulations to Dauda Iliya and urged him to leverage his extensive experience to serve Borno State effectively.
