Shendam Residents Thank Senator Lalong For Intervention As Collapsed Bridge Nears Completion

Residents of Shendam were in jubilant mood on Saturday 18th May 2024 as Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Lalong visited the collapsed bridge at the Total Junction which is being reconstructed by the Federal Ministry of Works.

Senator Lalong who is a member of the Senate Committee on Works was visiting the bridge for the second time in three months as part of his promise to ensure that the bridge is completed before the rains intensify.

In a press statement signed by Dr. Makut Macham, his
Special Adviser Media, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and disclosed that just last week, he met with the Minister of Works Engr Dave Umahi to facilitate payments due to the contractors.

Lalong appreciated President Tinubu and Minister of Works for fulfilling their promise to reconstruct the bridge when he lodged the request to them last year upon the collapse of the old bridge.

The contractor and residents thanked Senator Lalong for his passion for the development of the area by ensuring the reconstruction of the bridge which links Shendam to Nasarawa State is done expeditiously.

Meanwhile, Senator Lalong who visited Wase yesterday, has disclosed that the ongoing work on the collapsed Wase-Langtang bridge which also connects Nasarawa State will soon be completed.

He said together with the former Speaker House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Idris Wase, they are working closely with the Federal Government to ensure that the work is completed on time to facilitate movement of people and goods during the heavy raining season.

The Senator hinted that together with other Senators from the North East States, they are working on a motion for the urgent construction of the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Yobe-Maiduguri Road which is a major corridor to 7 states but currently in very bad shape.

The Panbegwa-Manchok, Jos Road he said is also being discussed.

Lalong during the visit to his Constituency also attended a memorial Mass at St Stephen Catholic Church Nyak Ajikamai, paid condolence visits to some bereaved families as well as attended the wedding of the younger sister to APC Gubernatorial Candidate in Plateau State Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshewe in Pankshin.
