81 Jigawa Governor’s Aides Trained on Monitoring Health Facilities

A total of 81 aides to the Jigawa State Governor, including Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs), have undergone training on monitoring health services across the state’s 27 local government areas.
Speaking at the training, held at the Manpower Development Institute in Dutse, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Healthcare, Mr. Isah Surajo, stated that the aim of the program was to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to track, supervise, and monitor health facilities in their respective areas.
According to Surajo, participants were selected from the local government areas, with three representatives from each of the 27 areas. Their role is to ensure government resources are effectively utilized in the state’s health facilities.
“The SSAs and SAs are responsible for engaging communities to improve services, addressing challenges, and ensuring healthcare delivery is optimized,” he said.
“They will report to Senior Special Assistants to His Excellency in their designated areas. These reports will be collected and analyzed, with issues unresolved at the facility level escalated to local government authorities. Any matters beyond that will be forwarded to the state level through the appropriate channels.”
Surajo emphasized that the training will help participants understand the operational structure of health centers, clarify roles and responsibilities, and distinguish between service rights and privileges. Additionally, participants will gain insight into health policies, plans, and regulatory practices in the state’s health facilities, along with training in the use of digital platforms to perform their duties.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa, highlighted the current administration’s commitment to improving healthcare services in Jigawa State.
He noted that the state government had earmarked over N12.5 billion for free dialysis and the treatment of non-communicable diseases such as sickle cell disease, hypertension, and diabetes. The funds will also cover the construction, expansion, and renovation of primary and secondary healthcare facilities across all 27 local government areas and 287 political wards in the state.
“The project will also include the provision of staff quarters, 24-hour water and power supply, and modern sanitation facilities at all hospitals,” Dr. Kainuwa added.
