Sen. Ahmed Wadada has emerged winner of the APC governorship primary election in Nasarawa State after polling 195,285 votes to defeat six other aspirants. The primary election was conducted across 147 electoral wards in the state.
The Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Prof. Theodore Bala Maiyaki, announced the result in Lafia, declaring Wadada as the duly elected APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, came second with 49,675 votes, while Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna scored 5,844 votes. Other aspirants recorded lower votes.
Maiyaki described the exercise as largely peaceful despite isolated incidents of violence in some wards and the cancellation of one ward result over alleged over voting. He commended security agencies, INEC observers, civil society groups, and Governor Abdullahi Sule for supporting the successful conduct of the exercise.
Wadada, who earlier received Governor Sule’s endorsement, is now set to lead the APC into the 2027 Nasarawa governorship election.
