ADC Chides FG Over New Tax Law, Demands Urgent Action On Insecurity
By Abdullahi Yusuf
The African Democratic Party (ADC) has criticised the Federal Government’s new Tax Law, describing it as anti-people and capable of plunging the nation into deeper economic hardships and social instability.
The party also expressed concern over the persistent insecurity across the country, describing the situation as “traumatic and a major source of growing distrust between citizens and government, largely due to repeated unfulfilled promises to guarantee safety of lives and property.”
The criticisms were contained in the party’s Christmas message to Nigerians signed by its National Assistant Secretary pary, Ali Tukur Gantsa.
In the message,Gantsa also extended ADC’s warm Christmas wishes to Christians and prayed for a peaceful and prosperous New Year for all Nigerians.
Gantsa, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretary at Wadata Plaza, urged the Federal Government to rise decisively to its constitutional responsibility by addressing the worsening security challenges confronting the nation.
He also condoled with the government and people of Kano State over the tragic death of two serving lawmakers on the same day, describing the incident as “deeply painful and a great loss to the state and the nation at large.”
Similarly, the ADC commiserated with the Borno State Government and families affected by the recent bomb attack that claimed several lives and left many others injured, calling for renewed commitment to safeguarding citizens.
The party then appealed for unity, compassion and responsive leadership as Nigerians celebrate Christmas and look forward to the New Year.
