Stakeholders and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have resolved to work assiduously for the victory of the party’s presidential candidate, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and all candidates for various political positions in Adamawa State.
The resolution was reached during a crucial meeting between the new state Acting Chairman of the party, Sai’du Naira, and the ward chairmen along with the state executive members from the Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone, with a single agenda of loyalty and the promotion of internal democracy within the party.
During the meeting held at the ADC party secretariat, adjacent to Bornoma House along Mohammed Mustapha Way, Jimeta, on Saturday, Acting Chairman Sai’du Naira expressed delight at the maximum support and cooperation being extended to his new state executive members, urging all to remain firm and resolute in unity.
Naira expressed loyalty and support for the national leadership under former Senate President, Senator David Mark, pledging to work hard so the party can attain victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections across all 226 political wards in the 21 local government areas of the state.
He assured that the party is regaining strength, emerging from avoidable and unnecessary internal crises, which were allegedly caused by the failure of the so-called suspended leader of the party, Barrister Sadiq Dasin. He insisted that transparency and honesty would be his guiding principles as a leader.
“Honestly, ADC as a party was almost collapsed or dead because of the way the suspended leader was handling the affairs of the party.
“But thank God that those who love and have the party’s interests at heart did everything legally available to push aside those selfish individuals, and we are here today to work hard for the party’s success.
“We urge you all to work day and night for the progress and victory of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and all other ADC candidates seeking elective positions,” Naira emphasised.
Also speaking at the meeting, the new Acting Publicity Secretary of the party, Abdullahi Adamu Danlami, also known as ‘Dynamite’, told the gathering that the ADC is open to anyone interested in delivering more dividends of democracy to the citizens of the state and the country at large.
Danlami Dynamite advised all party members and supporters to begin a committed campaign for the party’s presidential candidate down to ward councillors, aiming to secure victory in the 2027 elections.
He opined that, if not for the minor hitches allegedly caused by the suspended leadership, the party should have become stronger by now. Nonetheless, he expressed optimism that all hope is not lost, since with unity of purpose, the desired goal can still be achieved.
Likewise, Hajiya Zainab Ganye, the State Deputy Woman Leader, and Modu Umar, Deputy Secretary of Social Welfare, stated that the meeting was also for the new state acting executive members to show loyalty and support to Sai’du Naira’s leadership, while advising him to carry everyone along.
The two-hour meeting concluded with a pledge by all party members to work together for the victory of their candidates, from Presidential to Councillorship posts, unanimously agreeing that 2027 is ADC’s time to become a formidable opposition capable of forming government both at the centre and across all political zones of the country.
Our correspondent reports that the party has experienced internal wrangling for some time, over the selection of an acceptable governorship candidate, which has escalated into the existence of two parallel state executive committees, one led by Barrister Ibrahim Sadiq Dasin and the other by Sai’du Naira, a former State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the administration of former Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow.
